Lovely historic building in the centre of the Dartington estate. We had one of the few en suite rooms on the top floor. Was nicely laid out and decorated and totally clean. Shower lovely and hot with good pressure. Would have liked a bigger bed as the room could easily take it and the TV was a bit on the small side but other than that a lovely room. Shame leaf blowers were started up at 8.30 am on the lawns outside. Dining is a short walk outside to the estate 'pub' the White Hart. Sadly this is a bit soulless and surprisingly lacking in character. Food is expensive and a bit heavy. Side's are enough for two which it would be useful to have noted on the menu. Breakfast is buffet style and there is plenty to choose from and we were told that if we wanted anything else, just to ask. However the gardens and estate as a whole are stunning. If you like to walk follow the trail around the deer park and down to the river. Absolutely beautiful and there is some stunning wild life to be seen, but sadly no deer for us. You can also walk to the Dartington shops and Totnes is also within walking distance. I would thoroughly recommend a visit and on the whole it is a lovely place to stay but try the booking sites rather than booking direct. We got a great deal.
Fabulous stay in the bridal suite for our anniversary/works Christmas bash. Food was top class along with the service. Always recommend this magnificent venue to all. Many thanks to Jodie & the team x
Called in for a drink and quick bite to eat at the White Hart on Sunday lunchtime. Not full by any means but received short shrift from a totally insincere and unwelcoming barmaid . No chance of food she said unless you had book a table. We only wanted a sandwich. Not recommended.
Excellent accommodation. Breakfast very good. Quiet and peaceful. Wonderful location.
We did a swim run event there through wild running. com. Last weekend, Great place to have an event like this there. The weather was interesting but we can't change that. For me the wetter the better. Well done keri.
