Comes close to classic hardware shop; you can still buy loose nails, screws, nuts & bolts etc and pretty much all else for home improvements, diy etc. Brilliant!

Harris' is a wonderful traditional little hardware shop that sadly is underutilised by the locals. The three guys who run it are funny, quirky, knowledgeable, and friendly, and what they occasionally lack in stock they more than make for with charm. In terms of stock, the only things I haven't been able to buy there are building rather than DIY supplies - SERIOUS power tools, large bags of concrete mix, etc.Other locals have commented to me in the past that they are on the expensive side; in my experience they are often comparative in price (and when I bought my splitting axe, considerably cheaper and better quality than what was on offer at both the nearby farmer's shop and the big orange chain). Also, being able to buy screws, bolts, hooks, etc individually rather than in bulk (destined to sit in the shed for eternity) is guaranteed to ensure my custom for life!To all Totnes locals: use Harris' before it's gone and we get ANOTHER coffeeshop.
